Change Your Perspective
per·spec·tive
a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view.
Dear reader, for the next ten or so minutes, I would love for you to clear your mind of all worries and preoccupations and receive these words from my heart to yours. There is so much going on in our world right now, and we are being encouraged to embrace distractions which can impact our mental and emotional wellbeing. It is possible that you have been receiving messaging that there is something for you to fear about the future. Perhaps you’ve been told that you should feel concerned for your personal safety or the safety of those you care about. I am here to challenge those messages. I am here to remind you that there is no such thing as a loss when you maintain a healthy perspective about life.
As always, my encouragement to you is also encouragement to myself. I recently lost access to my TikTok account, which had amassed almost ninety-thousand followers and had reached almost four million accounts in just a four-week period. Being suspended from my account has thrown a wrench in my plans, as I have been preparing to launch my podcast, along with a few other campaigns that were dependent on the platform I have invested so much time, energy, and resources into building. Losing that reach has been a huge blow to the progress I have made toward building my empire, and there are moments that I feel completely defeated by the thought of starting over. However, I have absolutely no choice but to pick up my feelings and get back to work. Where there is a will, there is a way. At this point, Dear Reader, I am down to nothing but my will. I have to push through and rebuild.
As I rebuild my platform, I continue to remind myself that there is opportunity in starting over. I have to maintain a positive perspective about the situation because otherwise, I will give up entirely. Giving up isn’t an option for me or for you, Dear Reader. We pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and get back to work. That doesn’t mean I haven’t cried tears of frustration during the process. As a matter of fact, I had to push through a wave of sadness just to write to you today. That feeling of defeat can be so daunting. The tasks ahead can feel overwhelming and impossible, but I continue to shift my perspective and see the opportunities as opposed to focusing on the obstacles. What are the benefits of starting over? What new opportunities are presented with this new platform? If I see this challenge as an opportunity to rebrand myself, the work becomes more exciting for me.
What opportunities do you see at the moment for a perspective shift? Have you recently experienced a job or career change? Have you recently exited or entered a new relationship? Have you been presented with the opportunity to move into a new environment? Whatever your situation is, you must decide to maintain the perspective that it is all for your best interest. Perhaps this year’s elections did not turn out the way you hoped; this is an opportunity for you to build bridges with others who hold different views from your own. Remember, there are no losses in this life; there are only lessons to be learned. I know that sounds cliche, but it is the truth if and when you believe it. Whether it be a job layoff or a death in the family, life has presented you with the opportunity to learn more about yourself and the world around you. It’s time to shift, Dear Reader. You have all the power to make the best of your life, no matter what is being presented.
