Greatness Begins at Conception (Part 1)
Greatness does not just happen. There is no great person throughout history who stumbled into the identity of Greatness.
Great people live great lives, and great lives are lived intentionally.
The Greatest Man to ever walk this face of the earth shifted how humanity measures TIME. His name- in various languages, tongues, and dialects- reigns above all over names. There isn’t even a close second.
His life isn’t just considered great for how it ended. The story of His greatness starts at the beginning of time itself. He was identified right alongside the creation of this world and the heavens beyond it. He needed no name because there is no one word or sound that could begin to define His impact and destiny.
And when the time came for prophecy to be fulfilled… for the world to meet the Word of God in the flesh… the womb through which He would enter this world was chosen by God. The mother of the Greatest Man to ever live- was visited by a divine messenger. She was warned that her faithfulness had positioned her as the one and only woman for the job. Her womb was being readied prior to Him being planted. That is how intentional our God is.
Even before He was conceived, the world was being prepared for His arrival. Upon His conception, the world began to shift around His existence. Lives were changed the moment His coming arrival was announced, and thousands of years later, His existence continues to change lives around the world.
He lived intentionally, becoming a student- and then master- of prophecy, religion, astronomy, and pedagogy. He studied the leaders of the time and their ways. He familiarized Himself with the religious and political elites. He engaged with and got to know the people of the lands as He traveled across the world teaching and learning.
We focus so much energy on those final moments of His natural life, but His greatness precedes time itself. It wasn’t accidental nor coincidental. The greatness of my Lord and Savior was executed with distinct and divine purpose.
And as followers of Him, it is our responsibility to live just as intentionally. It is our responsibility to strive for that level of greatness. We have been given the blueprint.
